In the early 1900s, the Metaxa distillery in Piraeus created many alcoholic drinks. Among them, the most popular Greek aperitif, ouzo. Ouzo by Metaxa based on the original recipe includes different aromatic seeds of the Mediterranean basin and the rare mastic of Chios island. Created according to a time-honored recipe, this unique aperitif features a blend of Mediterranean spices including aniseed, fennel, coriander and the precious mastic coming from the island of Chios, which endow Ouzo by Metaxa with a rich, complex bouquet and cool, crisp flavor.
